Make One Tiny Change

We often underestimate the power of tiny changes. Transformation—for yourself or for your business—requires drastic action, but as author James Clear points out in his best-selling book, Atomic Habits, small shifts ultimately lead to the most significant breakthroughs.

That one small decision to change something in your business, say yes to an opportunity, speak up for yourself, or improve your relationships or health, could create a chain reaction that reshapes your future.

Every significant transformation starts with a single decision. But most people hesitate to take even one tiny step in a new direction:

  • They overanalyze change and talk themselves out of taking action.
  • They assume small efforts won’t make a difference.
  • They wait for the “perfect time”—which never comes.

When you hesitate to take one small step towards what you want, you stay stuck in the same patterns, and risk missing out on the possibilities that a small change can initiate. You end up:

  • Staying in the same place year after year, wondering, “What if?”
  • Letting fear of the unknown hold you back from opportunities.
  • Missing out on the surprising and unexpected benefits that small shifts can bring.

Willing to take one small step? Do this…

1: Say YES to Something New

Fear and hesitation keep us from growing. Challenge yourself to say YES to an opportunity, even if it feels uncomfortable. The smallest “yes” can open doors you never imagined.

2: Make a Small Habit Shift

Change doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Start one small new habit today—whether it’s a 5-minute morning stretch, drinking more water, or making one phone call to someone you’ve been avoiding. Small habits compound into massive results.

3: Do Something to Impact Others

Every change you make doesn’t just affect you—it influences those around you. Whether it’s an act of kindness, leadership, or personal growth, your actions—even the small ones—inspire more change than you realize.

4: Do It Without Knowing the Full Path

Most advisors wait until they have all the answers before making a move. But the truth is that clarity comes from action, not waiting. Take the first step, and the next one will reveal itself.

5: Reflect on a Past Small Change That Led to Unexpected Growth

Think about a time when a small decision led to something much bigger than you expected. Use that as proof that every small action has the power to create a ripple effect.

Last week, I offered my newsletter subscribers an opportunity to spend up to an hour with me to discuss their biggest goal or biggest challenge. No sales, just one small step towards positive change. Only 4 advisors took me up on my offer. And all of them were happy that they did. But why only 4?
