It happens to most advisors.
You start out struggling to find anyone who’ll invest with you or buy insurance from you. Then, because you stick with it, something clicks. Your business gains traction. Three-thousand-dollar months become $10,000, then $15,000, then $20,000.
And then you hit a wall.
One month, $20,000. The next, $8,000. Then $18,000, followed by $11,000. Or your annual gross revenue creeps up a little, dips a little, and barely moves year to year.
You might be working just as hard as you did when you were climbing. The growth has just stalled.
At this point, you have two choices: accept that you’ve peaked, or change something. If you choose change, there are three common paths.
Path 1: Work more hours.
More calls. More meetings. More of what got you here. It rarely works, and it costs you the family time and time for the things you love.
Path 2: Chase the next shiny system.
Every ad promises that this system is the one. But even if it worked beautifully for the mentor who just charged you thousands to teach it, it won’t work the same way for you. Different clients, different strengths, different business.
Path 3: Work with a coach to break through.
Because what’s keeping you stuck is usually in you or in your systems. Ask yourself:
- Do you come across as a salesperson or a trusted advisor?
- Are you leveraging your best contacts for more business and great introductions?
- Do you dominate a niche?
- Do your systems maximize your results and free up your time?
- Are you delegating the background work so you can focus on client happiness and client acquisition?
The 3-Step Breakthrough Process
When a plateaued advisor has a coaching conversation with me, we work through three steps:
1. Identify the Plateau
Are you spending 80% of your time on the “noisy” small accounts, or doing $25-an-hour work in your own business, while your top 20% of clients quietly wait for more contact and more sophisticated advice? You cannot scale a practice while you’re buried in low-impact tasks. Seeing it clearly is where everything starts.
2. Diagnose the Root Cause
It’s rarely a lack of knowledge or ability. More often it’s a glitch in your thinking or focus, or a lack of capacity. Your current systems were built for the yesterday version of your business, and they can’t carry the tomorrow version. So we look at your thinking, your focus, your systems, your team’s efficiency, and the communication gaps holding you back.
Steps one and two happen in our conversation. Step three is the one that changes your income:
3. Execute the Shift
This is the pivot. You put in place a business development strategy built on high-level, proactive, focused outreach, deliberate client relationship management, and systems that work.
You can do this on your own, or you can have my help. Your call. No pressure.
Guaranteed Results, Not an Investment in Hope
When advisors join my six-month program, I guarantee they’ll increase their gross income (GDC, commissions, and so on) by at least $25,000, without substantially increasing their workload. If they don’t, they don’t pay.
I can make that promise because nearly every advisor I work with gets there during our six months working together, and almost all go well beyond it and get over that brick wall.
The only commitment I’m asking for is one conversation.
Contact me with the word “Calendar” and I’ll send you my calendar link to book your one-hour call.
